Niseko Rail Jam

January 21st saw the first Herbie’s Rail Jam of 2012 held outside Niseko’s no. 1 apres ski venue, Herbie’s Umbrella Bar. A large crowd gathered, beers and mulled wine in hand, to watch skiers and snowboarders fail or nail the rail time after time. Sparks were flying! Check out the highlights from 360niseko here:

The next Herbie’s Rail Jam is tomorrow, Monday 30 January 2012, and will start at 5pm. Everything is in place to suggest that tomorrow’s event will be bigger and better than the last one! Herbies is located in Niseko Hirafu across from the Alpen Hotel and behind The Welcome Center.

World Airline Ski Championships Coming to Niseko

The International Airline Ski Federation (IASF) have just announced Niseko as the location for this year’s World Airline Ski Championships (WASC). Another excellent reason to visit Niseko this season.

The annual event will take place March 4-8, and is expected to draw over 600 visitors. The Federation chose Niseko, touting the amazing snow and “world famous powder” that the resort has to offer. Just check out our blog post from the same time last year to see for yourself!

If you are looking to join the fun, why not take advantage of one of the amazing deals throughout the month of March. Huge discounts available on luxury Niseko accommodation – but book early! Get in touch with us if you’d like to find out more.

A Weekend at Hanazono

There are some really exciting ski and snowboard events and competitions taking place this weekend at Niseko’s Hanazono resort.

Today was the training day for the FIS Snowboard Japan Cup 2011 Halfpipe event. Tomorrow, 29th January, will see the main event and there will be some top riders in action. The competition begins at 09:20 and we recommend getting there early to avoid missing out on a good view point.

Then on Sunday Hanazono will be hosting Bagjump Mania 2011. The Bagjump is an innovative tool used to practice freestyle jumps safely (see image below). So you can expect to see a whole host of skiers and snowboarders going all out to see who can throw the biggest tricks. It’s a great spectacle and not to be missed if you’re anywhere near the area. The competition begins at 11:00.

Head to Hanazono this weekend and you’ll find a lot going on with enough excitement for everyone!
